Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using a MSC North a discussion board, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use a MSC North Discussion board.

Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

General guidelines and etiquette

We encourage the following:

  1. Honest and open dialogue: This community platform is intended to be used for helpful exchange between participants. Please be yourself and be sincere in your interactions.

  1. A supportive and collaborative spirit: It’s the responsibility of every participant to create a safe space to share stories and support one another.

  1. Sticking to the topic at hand: We’re working hard to meet our objectives. Please keep the conversation on target.

  1. Respectful discourse: While we’re all here for the same overall purpose, we come from different perspectives. Our objectives and approaches might be different. Practice tolerance and be open to diverse perspectives and remain respectful when they differ from your own. Focus on the content of conversations and not on the people making them. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to newer guests and members.  Disagreements are fine, but mutual respect is a must. Please also note that sarcasm and joking can often be misunderstood and using ALL CAPS can be considered shouting.

Participants can expect:

  1. a warm welcome;

  1. the opportunity to be an active participant in the community

  1. to benefit from collective wisdom and shared experiences and resources;

  1. open moderation (comments are live when posted and not reviewed beforehand); and

  1. that all members will play by the rules as determined in collaboration with the members themselves.

Participants are emphatically encouraged to refrain from:

  1. Intimidation

  1. Comments that are discriminatory, hateful, defamatory, offensive or abusive, illegal, that violate privacy or confidentiality; Note all discussion content related to personal information of other members will remain confidential to the discussion board membership and MSC North.

  1. Posting of copyrighted material. Copyrighted material (text or images), private email text and other privileged information may not be posted without prior written permission from the original author;

  1. Posts that reflect a commercial interest - The community is not to be used for the purposes of advertising and soliciting attendance at non-approved events or programs, nor of promoting commercial products or fundraising efforts. Unfortunately, it is impossible to verify the validity of each and every organization that solicits donations; therefore, to protect you from fraud, we must prohibit solicitations from users of the community

  1. Obscene or hateful language. Profanity, vulgarity and abusive language are out-of-bounds;

  1. Personal attacks;

  1. sacrificing collegiality because of differing opinions; or

  1. sharing of another’s personal information — including that of patients, providers and peers. For your safety and privacy, do not post personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, social insurance or security numbers or any other private information.

  1. impersonation of any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.

  1. Any activity that could lead to charges of defamation and libel.

By joining and using this Community, you agree that you have read and will follow these Community Guidelines. Please review these Community Guidelines periodically, as they may be updated from time to time.

Guideline monitoring, reporting and enforcement

 If a member posts an error of fact or inappropriate content, the Community Management Team will review the post and determine whether the posting should: 1. remain posted, 2. remain posted with editorial comment added, or 3. be removed permanently. The Community Management team will contact the member directly and describe the action taken and provide justification, and the account may temporary be suspended without notice until this contact takes place.

 Should you come across a comment that does not follow the guidelines above, please email [email protected]. As our community platform grows and evolves, so too will our rules of engagement. As a member of the community on the platform, if you have any suggestions for improving guidelines, your ideas and insights will help shape the way forward.
